In case you’re not familiar with the basics, so-called “search engine optimizers” are out there to get their customers’ web sites on the first page of search engine results. And one thing that counts according to Google and its kin is the popularity of web sites, which is measured as the number of links to the web site. In other words “Link Popularity” is the key!
Most of us thought that posting a comment will increase our search engine popularity. Well, not anymore. Upon learning that search engine firms and blogwares endorsed the rel=nofollow attribute, posting comments alone is no longer helpfull for bloggers to gain link popularity. What can you do about it? Just turn off “nofollowâ€. Show your comment posters that you love them. Spread the link love.
How? Depending on the blog platform you’re using, you can easily install a plugin for WordPress), Moveable Type or modify your Blogger template.
NoFollow was originally designed to help stop comment spam, but it doesn’t work. What it does is remove some of the incentive for your readers contribute to your site by commenting on your posts.
The dofollow plugin for WordPress lets you remove the evil nofollow attribute from your comments.
