If you’re planning on monetizing your site, one of the first concerns you should address is traffic. This is probably one of the top ways your site can earn recognition and attract better readership. Now, the question: would it be better to aim for unique hits or repeat traffic? Which one should you go for?
Unique hits vs. repeat traffic
Do you want unique hits or repeat traffic as a source of income for your site? Each of these sources can have its advantages and limitations, depending on what you want your website to become.
Unique hits, for example, will show you that your readership or audience is expanding. However, if that’s all you’re getting, it’s also a sign you don’t attract people enough to make them stay. Having regular visitors is a good sign there are people who like your site. On the other hand, it also means your audience is extremely limited although businesswise, they are more likely to buy from you or click on your text ads simply because they trust your site.
Earning your rank
If you’re planning on becoming a highly recognized site on the internet, something you might want to aim for if you’re planning on blog flipping someday, getting unique visitors should be on top of your priority list. You’ll need to increase your stats over time by building up your traffic, an important thing to remember especially when your site is a new kid on the block.
The point here is this: whether you go for unique hits or repeat traffic will depend on what your desired end result is. Whether you want to earn from Adsense income or direct sponsorship or are planning to sell your site or blog later, go for quality traffic. This should be the type of traffic that will help you achieve your goal by performing certain actions. Want 15,000 unique hits a day or 15,000 repeat traffic in a month? That’s up to you to work it out.

I would actually prefer both. Their equally necessary particularly when you’re starting out. The difficulties lie on the word how.

I would prefer both but some of my websites are really only targetted to one sale and they are out and I wouldn’t expect them to come back again.
Nice Tips. If someone wants clicks on their ads, then they need unique visitors, as Returning visitors are more interested in your content than your ads.
