Think spending hours everyday in social networking sites is a waste of time? Well, not really if you’re an internet marketer or website owner. Social networking sites are virtual places on the internet where people naturally congregate. If you have some presence here, use that to your advantage as a form of marketing technique.
However, the big question is: how much time using social networking sites is too much?
It’s not the time, it’s what you do with it.
First of all, it’s not really about how much time you spend but what you do during those hours. Let’s say on any given day you spend about 6 hours a week using social networking sites. If you maximize these hours and promote your business actively, you would have used your time well.
On the other hand, if you spend 15 hours a week using social networking sites and actually use only about 3 hours marketing your business, you’re wasting a pretty good opportunity.
The company you keep
You should also consider the type of social networking sites you join. Some sites are more popular as personal-purpose sites, the kind that encourage friendships and personal correspondences.
There are also social networking sites that lean more towards certain niches, such as computers or internet marketing. The types of exchanges also vary, with some sites being more popular for podcasts or videos.
Making use of time
There are two issues surrounding the amount of time you spend using social networking as a marketing technique: what you do with your time and where you go. Make sure you use social networking sites not only to expand your network but also to market your business. And yes, you do have to choose the company you keep.
