Online collaboration software can allow you as a team or group to not only share documents that you are working on, but to collaborate on a final document by sharing the edits and modifications online.
An online collaboration software package can allow you to do the job faster, especially since you will be working at digital speeds; all you need to do is to buy the software, install it, and keep yourselves communicating within the group.
The major online collaboration software packages nowadays include the free Google Docs and Basecamp, and Zoho.
What’s the Difference?
Google Docs is free, and you can access the simple online collaboration interface when you sign in online to your Google account. Because the collaboration interface is simple, you will not need to climb up a steep learning curve in order to know more about the package. Moreover, because it is free, you do not need to spend a lot. You only need your team members to have their own Google accounts.
Google Docs works with simple team projects, such as class or school group work. If you are working for a large company with bigger projects, however, you may want to try either Basecamp or Zoho. Basecamp users need only to sign in to get a free account. Basecamp is also well known for its ability to foster better communication amongst group members. Over a million people all over the world are part of Basecamp.
Zoho is free to try, but it is also quite versatile. You can take notes using Zoho tools, create presentation slides, your own Wiki, spreadsheets, word processing documents, and even whole software packages to manage your project. If you need a lot of functionality for a larger project that demands a lot of input, then you may consider Zoho.
So Which One Should You Choose?
Whichever online collaboration software you pick, get one that you can afford, and one that is tailored to your group’s needs.
