A recent poll conducted by WHY Magazine — the only online magazine dedicated to people who work out of their homes — reveals that 52 percent of work-at-homers around the globe have semi- or mostly-green home offices.
“It’s really encouraging,” says Dina Santorelli, Editor and Publisher of WHY. “When we asked the question, ‘Is your work-at-home office environmentally friendly?’ we didn’t know what to expect. The results indicate that more than half of respondents have some degree of eco home offices.”
Forty-two percent of those polled said they’ve “taken some green steps” and ten percent have a “mostly green” home office. Thirty-eight percent have a conventional home office but “hope to go green” in the future and ten percent have a conventional office and “don’t have the interest in a green office.” No work-at-homers have a completely green home office.
“The Bureau of Labor Statistics of the U.S. Department of Labor reports that twenty million people work from home in the United States,” says Santorelli. “The green movement should be ecstatic that those who work out of their homes seem to be interested in doing their part for the environment. They might not have totally green offices, but the awareness and intent is there.”
The work-at-homers who responded to WHY’s poll were mostly from the United States, but a small percentage were from other countries. “Going green isn’t just a U.S. thing,” says Santorelli. “And so it makes sense that work-at-homers from all countries are working on eco home offices.”
An eLuna Media publication, WHY is the first-of-its-kind online magazine that’s dedicated to work-at-homers. Offered bi-monthly at WHY magazine, WHY gives people who work out of their homes a sense of community along with the tools and information to manage all the intermingling elements of life.

I think its because there is so much information on the internet which talks about being green. It is truly a growing force to be noticed.

Guess it’s encouraging to see that such a large percent of people that work from home are at least aware that going green is important and that they try as much as the can to go in the right direction. Guess it will still be a while till most will be able to have completely green home office but seems the will and awareness are there.
