Whether you’ve just started, are a seasoned expert or are just thinking about working from home each of these things are essential to have in your skill base:

  1. Time management. You will need to prioritise your time ruthlessly in order to stop yourself wasting time on things that don’t earn you money. Running a business means you are self employed, and not paid by the hour. So you have to make EVERY hour count. You will need to sacrifice something in your routine to fit time for a home business in. I can recommend TV time is the first place you look for that extra time you can use!
  2. Believe! Know it can be done. Have the belief in yourself that you CAN run a business from home. And that people are doing it successfully in far worse situations that you currently are – I guarantee it! If you don’t believe you can do it – you’re probably right.
  3. Work on yourself harder than you work on your home business. Chances are you are in a home business where people are successful. That means the business works, the only difference in your situation is YOU.
  4. Become Task Orientated. Know the tasks that produce you income. And do these first. If you have time for others great. If you don’t no problem as long as you’ve done the income producing ones first your home business will still succeed.
  5. Accept that to get a ‘yes’ to your product / business you HAVE to also have no’s. Its impossible not to. Its part of any business whether its work from home or not. Don’t take it personally and accept its part of the process.
  6. Be prepared to step up and be your own boss. Be responsible for your own actions. Would you hire or fire yourself for the day’s activities? Be honest with yourself!

Working from home for yourself can be the most rewarding choice you ever make if you master the basics! http://www.GlobalHomeBusiness.com.au

  1. Discipline, discipline, discipline is what it is all about. Its impressive for those that work at home to be successful with all the “other” fun things to do at home. I have tried it and prefer keeping business separate.

  2. Work at home jobs are also a strike of luck but if handled with right strategy one would become successful out of it.

Everyone would love to own their own business…Think of all the time off, the extra pay, no boss. But this is all a misconception. I think you really do have to be a focused, driven individual or owning a home business would never work for you.

  4. I wish to add that there is need to build a system right from day one. Else, one may just discovered that working from home can become more strenuous than working outside the home.
If one builds a system and is disciplined enough to make the system work, then the future is bright. Cheers.

  5. Great article, very relevant and informative. All are great ideas- especially #5. Yes, you need to be willing to be your own boss and self-motivate but hopefully when starting your work-from-home business you are aware of these things. It’s a choice you have to make- can you motivate yourself from home? If not, then maybe you’re not ready for this type of responsibility.
But learning how to handle all of the “no’s” that come along takes some work. Don’t take these personally, instead use them as a motivator to eventually get a “yes”. “No’s” are going to happen….a lot. The sooner you realize this and get past it the better off you’ll be.

  6. Thanks for your advice.
I’ve involved about 2 years in this home business and i sure your opinion is true.

  8. Hey , you have a very good blog, its excellent information in its field. You have done a great job, keep doing it for to help, people like Myself. I read many blogs earlier about this topic. But I never found complete information earlier, but your blog is giving real information. I also have several WordPress blogs. And in my experience social bookmarking, article submission and press release submission is way to quickly quickly get my blog posts spidered and am on page one of Google many times in a few hours
