If you are an entrepreneur using statistics to make your business grow, try to write your own story and win a prize.
The Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) in coordination with the National Statistical Coordination Board lately launched the story-writing contest “My Statistics and Me” as part of the National Statistics Month celebration in October.
The contest, which is open to all Filipino entrepreneurs and anybody who knows the story of a successful entrepreneur, highlights the role of statistics in business promotion and development specifically in micro, small and medium enterprises. It also aims to promote best practices in the use of statistics to make a business grow.
The celebration’s theme is “Statistics: Key to Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises Development.”
The DTI and NSCB are looking for stories that share inspiring ideas on how entrepreneurs benefited from using statistics to succeed in business. The content of the story is given more emphasis than on the writing style - 80 percent to content, 10 percent to form and 10 percent to reader-friendliness.
The winner will receive a cash prize of P10,000 and a plaque.
Entries, written either in English or Filipino with 1,000 to 1,500 words in MS Word format and double-spaced, may be submitted not later than September 10 this year to:
