As the market for electronic slate is hotting up best in class manufacturers are introducing techno efficient devices.
ASUS is all set to introduce Eee Pad, globally by early 2011. It is slated to compete with iPad for the global market share.
In order to better understand the unique differentiators amongst the two, consider the following pointers:
- Eee Pad will be powered by Windows 7 platform with Intel Duo Core 2 processor. Apple’s iPad is powered with the proprietary processor and motherboard.
- Eee Pad would be in the price range of $399-$499, whereas iPad is pricier as its base version with Wi-Fi only starts at $499 and goes till $849.
- There are no USB ports or an integrated cam in iPad whereas; ASUS’ Eee pad would offer both of these much needed features.
- The app store for iPad has more than 1, 50,000 custom free and paid apps. The app store for ASUS’ Eee Pad is nowhere near to apple in this front as most of the apps are being loaded and made to compete with iPad.
- Screen size of iPad is 9.7 inch whereas ASUS’ Eee Pad will offer more flexibility to the prospective owners with its two versions – 10inch and the 12 inch version.
- Battery backup of iPad is close to 8 hours. ASUS’ Eee pad scores more in this front as the device would offer around 10 hours of uninterrupted battery backup.
- The keyboard docking station would be shipped along ASUS’ Eee Pad. In case of iPad it is a separate accessory which can be bought from their online store on the go.
Prospective buyers should make a smart move by analyzing the pros and cons of both the devices before making a final purchase. Electronic slates can redefine the way business has been done in the mainstream.

I personally still think the HP Slate will beat them both, Mainly because the slate runs a real version of Windows 7 vs the compact version of Windows 7 with custom GUI found on the Eee Pad.. Either way they both kick the snot out of the Ipad..

I’m Holding off until the second generation of tablets come out, to greatly reduce the price and they can realize the potential of the device.
